This world is filled with negative, evil, and dangerous things. For example, you go on social media and all you see are people who pose as perfect and don't show the reality. They show and create an unflawed, perfect, and fake life and person. They create an unrealistic version of themselves and that's the main thing shown on social media This causes you to compare and set standards that you won't be able to meet because that "perfection" you're trying to reach is unrealistic. Nobody has their life that put together, has their hair that perfect right after getting out of bed, nobody's that perfect. Then stress comes over you because you set these goals that you can't achieve. We also have the news, for instance. All I hear when the news comes on is how broken the world is and what terrible things are happening, and it shows just how much the world needs Jesus. You hear of shootings, robberies, kidnappings, etc. And it's dangerous physically and spiritually. Spiritually because comparing yourselves, setting standards that cannot be met, hearing all the terrible things going on in the world, it's dangerous spiritually, because it can all quickly us from Him. Trying to achieve and pursue this "perfect" and unattainable style of living is not pursuing God, it's pursuing worldly things. And when that happens it only leads to chaos. Negative news when we never catch a break from it, it can steal our joy. Sometimes we need to step away, take a break from the world. Disconnect from it for a little bit. We are called to live in the world, but not of it. Not disconnecting from the world, not taking a break, not seeking God, not focusing on Him, causes us to begin to be of the world, it causes us to lose our focus on Him.
