Eternal Legacy

I think the word legacy is circulating around a lot. Be remembered by this or that. Don't be this or that kind of person. And I think some... actually a lot of people are missing it.
While we will be remembered by people here after we're gone and the life we live has an impact on the people around us. The most important thing is at the end of the day... who does your world spin around? Does it spin around yourself? Others opinions of you? Your performance at work, around friends, as a person? Or does it spin around Christ? The only One that can absolutely anchor you no matter how many other things are spinning.
That's what I'd want to be remembered for... that no matter what season of life, it was evident that my anchor was in Him. And any legacy we live here should be incredible if that's what's grounding us. If we are so sure of Christ. If our foundation is so firmly set upon Him, we should have no trouble being known for our love, kindness, peace, etc. Fruit follows faith. The fruit of the Spirit is what is produced inside of us because of our faith. And the sweetness, the ripeness, the production is all based upon how rooted we are in Him. Deep roots stand firm under trial. Deep roots get better nutrients. Being deeply rooted in Christ provides better nourishment so we can better satisfy others around us and imitate Him. We aren't perfect. We will fall short. In fact, I don't think any of us can say we have all the fruit of the Spirit ever. Some people are better at patience or joy, while others are better at self control or peace. But, again, if our Anchor is Christ, our fruit will follow suit. It takes discipline and obedience and constantly reminding our flesh that we are submitted to His authority. At the end of the day, we should want to be remembered for being His. His son. His daughter. In Hebrews 11, it lists all these amazing people in the Bible and mentioned their faith in God. For 27 verses, it starts the same, "by faith..." These people in Hebrews 11 lived out lives of faith, not perfectly, but wow how they trusted God and were obedient to Him despite the unknowns. They stepped, they spoke, they obeyed in faith. And we're still talking about them today. Live a life that is rooted in faith and obedience and from that, everything else will flow. Live a life that's focused on bringing the most glory to Him, not yourself. If we strive to bring glory to ourselves, it will end in dissatisfaction and emptiness. He fulfills. Bringing glory to Him is living out our purpose, so let's live our purpose well. Live a life where people can look back in centuries and see decades of generations behind you living for Christ, full of faith. Now that's an eternal legacy. Let our world spin around Christ, not the other way around. He is our center, our anchor.
