A few days ago I walked outside to take a picture of the sky. The sky was completely filled with a dark storm cloud, with a little light peeking through to the left of it. I walked outside. The wind was silent, but present. It was chilly and left an eerie feeling inside of me. Making me realize that a storm had just passed, but another was on its way. I walked and took my picture, and just stood there for a minute, in the midst of all the chaos. This is so contrary to the world. We are told to flee from chaos, to run from our problems, struggles, and fears. But God, loves when we go against the ways of the world, when we face our fears, walk through, instead of run from our struggles. When we walk faithfully, knowing that our end goal is Christ, knowing He is waiting there at the end, we don't become swallowed by the waves, or destroyed by the storm. God wants us to, ignore everything around us, ignore all of the chaos, and run towards Him.
And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. And they went and woke him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing.” And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. And the men marveled, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?” Matthew 14:23-27.
He is our help and our calm in the storm, we need to walk faithfully, boldly. In the midst of the chaos, the wind, and the waves, we need to trust.
