Mistakes Are Not Permanent

We all make mistakes. In sports, in school, in just life in general, it happens. Every human makes mistakes, we are human. We are not perfect and we never will be. We sin and make mistakes all the time, but without mistakes, we wouldn't be able to grow or learn. We wouldn't be able to learn from those mistakes and fix it, or grow from those mistakes. Mistakes show us lessons, sometimes hard ones, but each one is important, they teach what to do and what not to do. I am one who easily forgives others, but when it comes to forgiving myself... it's a struggle. I just feel bad, I don't like people being mad at me, I feel like I have to fix whatever I've done, but here's a reminder I love!

The Devil likes to call us by our mistakes and hold in front of our face and say "Look at what you've done!" He likes to make us feel overwhelmed by guilt and shame. He like to define us by our mistakes and failures. Jesus Christ did not die on the cross so that we could stay guilty and sit in shame, NO! He died so that we may be forgiven, freely and forever. He did not go through all of the gruesome, bloody pain so that you would stay guilty, but rather so that you could live forgiven, loved, and free. When we allow the Devil to define us with our sin, we become chained to it, because we don't let go of it. Jesus knows your mistakes and failures, looks at you and calls you by your name, and not only that, but your strengths as well, and He says "you are loved and you do not need to carry this any longer." Just know you are free, you are forgiven, you are loved, you are not defined by your mistakes and failures, and you are never alone. This goes for sports and school as well. Your mistakes do not define you, the Devil will try to define you and tell you who you are, but the only One who can is Jesus. And He defeated your sins, mistakes, and failures on that cross. So lay it there and leave it there. You do not need to fix anything because Jesus already did, we are a broken people, but He fixed us by dying for us. All you need to do is ask for forgiveness, and even before you ask, He has forgiven. Your mistakes do not define you, but neither do your struggles. Struggles are often looked at as weakness. Struggles also help us grow, in our walk with the Lord and in life. Often when we struggle, the Devil sees it and desires for us to make it define us. He doesn't want us to overcome it and he wants us to think that we will be stuck in it forever. Do not allow these things to define you, but only let Jesus. Hard times will come, but you can overcome them, and they do not define you. Jesus calls you and knows you as strong.
