Let Nothing Else Satisfy

Idolization. Something the world is swallowed by daily. I never thought that it was something I personally struggled or would struggle with. I thought it wasn't a threat to me and wasn't a danger to me. The devil loves to have us in that place. If he can get us to believe that a sin is not a threat to us, he can easily pull us into that sin, because we aren't on guard against it. If we begin to believe that we are immune to a sin, we stop defending against it, our walls come down. Keeping us there allows the devil to sneakily pull us into the exact thing we thought we couldn't be affected by.
At one point, I idolized people, their opinions, and friendships. But it wasn't until I was out of those friendships that I saw it. I realized that I was putting these people in front of God. These friendships ended and it was not easy to go through that. But, looking back, I realize God was saving me from myself. And the thing I thought I could never get wrapped up in, I was wrapped up in. Idolization is such a big thing that so many people struggle with in the world today, even Christians, because we classify it as anything but that. Oh... I just really enjoy that, I just didn't have time to spend time with God but I managed to watch 10 episodes of (blank), I just...
Eventually, the "justs" become reality and routine. We try to say JUST to justify what we are doing, just this one time, just for a minute. One time becomes routine, one minute becomes hours. Then, we begin to routinely replace God and idolize worldly things. I was listening to the song "Nothing Else" by Cody Carnes and it says, "And more than anything that You can do, I just want you. I just want you. Nothing else, nothing else." Over and over again it sings that last part of those lyrics, "I just want you, nothing else. Nothing else will do." As I sang these lyrics I realized that its so true. That even when we desperately want something else, it won't do. Because if you don't have Him, you don't have anything. And if you don't have anything, you're left looking for everything in nothing. But, when you DO have Him, you have everything. You don't have to look within nothing for anything, because you already have it all. We look to the world for all these other things, because we are saying He isn't enough. But when you have God, you don't need anything else! He is all you need. Nothing else will do. Even if you got every single thing you wanted, you'd want more, because it would never be enough. What this world is looking for is God, but they think everything is god, including themselves and are seeking the God in a world that only sells gods, which are idols.
Let nothing else satisfy. No matter how much I seek the worldly things and not God, I pray I would continue to find myself dissatisfied with the world, and always fully satisfied in God. Be on guard against every sin, because when you begin to convince yourself you're immune from certain sins, surely that is the devils opportunity. Think a door is locked, but it isn't, then the thief has all the opportunity in the world to come in and steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10).
