In this world we are often faced with many struggles, mistakes, and accomplishments. What do you do in life? Do you work? Go to school? Play a sport? Play an instrument? We all have something we do or maybe you do several things. How do you introduce yourself? State your name, your job, your school, a sport you play, an instrument you play? What defines you? You see we get so caught up in this thing called life. It captures every last bit of our attention, it drags us into the world, makes us begin to believe that whatever the world tells us about ourselves is true. Not only that but it can cause us to stress, worry, and feel like the exact thing that we allow to define us is falling apart. If we allow life and the world to define us, and it begins to fall apart, we begin to fall apart. Without our life being rested and centered on Christ life will fall apart. If Christ is not the center, life crumbles, and falls through our fingers like sand. But if we place our life in the Hands of the One who knows how many hairs are on your head, how many stars are in the sky, how many grains of sand are on the shore, in the Hands of the One who never falls apart, but is there to catch you when you do, and then continues to care and love you and places each piece of you back together, stands you up, wipes away your tears, and says I'm not done with you yet. He never loses confidence in you, His steadfast, unconditional, overflowing love that never runs out. Imagine your life being centered, being defined, being upheld by Him. What if we defined ourselves and saw ourselves the way He sees us? How life changing would that be? We need to be so focused on Christ that the distractions of the world won't and can't interrupt that focus. That as the world nags for our attention, we can keep a fixed, determined gaze on Christ, no matter what the world says about us, or tells us what to do, that we are able to stand confidently with Christ and walk in His footsteps. Yes, the world desires your attention, but Christ also does, and it is YOUR CHOICE to decide which voice, which cry you'll fall for. You know if you follow Christ's voice, the world might ridicule you, but if you follow the world, you know Christ will still meet you with love, will be disappointed, but will still love. We're a comfort seeking people, following the world can be easy, as Christ followers we are called OUT OF THE COMFORTABLE. Scary, right? Remember that when you're tempted to follow the world, consider how much more comfortable it is, but also how Christ so desires your heart, He desires to be your comfort, sometimes we are called into the uncomfortable so He can be our comfort.
