Figuring It Out

"I'm trying to figure it out." "I can't figure it out." Have you ever said anything like this, thought it, or anything close to it? I'm sure you have, I'm sure everyone has at some point. I know that I've sat and said this to myself more than once. It's so difficult sometimes to be in the times of the unknown, to sit and wonder, to sit and think, and to sit and not know. We want to know. We dislike not having control and not knowing. But sometimes... God wants us to sit in the unknown, but not with fear, not with stress, but faith, and trust. Sometimes He doesn't want us to "figure it out," He wants us to just follow Him. Life is not ours to figure out, it already is figured out, life is ours to live as it comes, and to follow and be guided through it. Obviously at some point we all make decisions, but whatever decision we make, it will all unravel the way God planned it to. Make a decision and you'll see if that's where God wants you, talk to Him, He'll guide you, just make sure you're listening. How the heck do I live life without figuring out what is in store for me?! LIVE. Just live. You'll figure it out eventually, but not until it comes. Breathe, take each day as it comes, not each week, month, or year as it comes, but each day, each second as it comes. To try and figure out life isn't trusting God completely, it's saying I need to know what's next, what's in store for me. So, live. Follow Him, allow Him, and trust Him. For me to live is Christ, live for Him. Something I've realized is we try and figure out the future, not the present, why? Because when the present arrives we realize how prepared we are, the decisions seem so simple, and the pieces all fall into place. But the future, that we can't see just yet, that we don't know yet, that is where the unknown, and the what ifs lie. It's where the time for decision hasn't come yet and the situation hasn't approached yet. That is when the fear takes place, when the "figuring out" takes place, when it hasn't yet come, but we try to prepare for it before it comes. Imagine us preparing for World War III... well, we don't know if that will ever happen, and if we did know it was going to happen, we have no idea who would attack us, what tactic to take, we wouldn't know anything we would need to prepare for it... except the weapons, we would use all the weapons we could. We can sharpen our weapons and armor, but we can't prepare for a war that hasn't started yet, we can only be ready to fight. Just like with God, we can dig into His Word, sharpen our Weapon, strengthen our hearts, minds, and souls, but we cannot prepare for what lies ahead, we can just follow, and live until we arrive to another battlefield.
