Why do we struggle to make time for God, read His Word, or start our days with Him? Because that is all life bringing. If that wasn't something that was important or life bringing, if those things didn't effect the devil... why would they be a struggle to pursue? The devil hates things that are life bringing and that draw us nearer to God. John 10:10 actually defines the devil as the opposite of life... "The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. I have come that they may have life and have it abundantly." The devil is the thief. The killer. The destroyer. Why do you think sin seems so much easier? Because the devil makes it look that way, because it STEALS life. We need to fight daily to make time for God. When we don't make time for Him, we miss Him, and when we miss Him the devil gets louder, He gets quieter. It's a daily battle of choosing Life. Live each day ready to defend against the killer. A garden full of weeds chokes the life out of all the good. The devil is like a weed; annoying, always there, always comes back, never gives up. He will come back tomorrow. It is a daily fight. But continue to fight. God didn't put you up against the devil because He thought you'd lose... God already won, you're fighting FROM victory, not for it. Christ came so we could have life, He defeated death. But even then, the devil tried and will continue to try to make you choose death, to make death seem easier, to make you turn from God. Why do you think all the good things that would bring glory to God are hard? Why do you think trusting God is harder than questioning Him? That reading His Word is harder than turning on the TV? Why do you think one of the devil's favorite things is to make us BUSY?? He wants to make us busy so that we "won't have time for God." Fight. Wake up earlier, stay up later, but MAKE TIME for God. I've experienced the busyness of life this past month and I lost my schedule of spending time with God and I. FELT. IT. Life felt harder. Life felt overwhelming. I felt like I was drowning. I felt far from God, not because I lost my relationship with Him, but because I wasn't working on it. I wasn't spending time with Him daily. Fight for it. Spend time with Him by MAKING time for Him, not just "finding" time for Him. It's a daily discipline. Start and end your day with Him. It makes a difference. If you don't spend time with the Life while you're living in a world swallowed by death, sin, evil, and that is captured by the thief, the killer, and the destroyer... soon enough you'll be impacted by the word. Stay fixed on Life. You've heard me say fight or fight for it throughout this post and I say that because I need you to know it is not going to be easy. You're going to need to fight for it, fight for your time with God, fight for Life.
