Different Hope

Hope is a funny thing. Something that many give up on, can be disappointed in participating in, a word many toss around, a word that loses its power with every hope that's lost. We hope for the best and yet things happen that don't seem like the best. We hope for this or that. We hope for a better job, more money, a better car, we often hope for more. We hope for healing. For better things. Better situations. We, as a society, culture, world, place our hope in fleeting things. We think healing will satisfy. We think more will satisfy. We think the best will satisfy. What would happen if we placed our hope in Someone that is always constant, never fleeting, never disappointing, always giving us the best- even if our flesh disagrees with that definition. What if our hope was placed not in humans, authorities, or things, but the True, Living Hope? Jesus Christ. Placing our hope in the Hope will never disappoint, never fail, never leave us discontent. Throughout scripture all the things that were said about Jesus took place, just as they were spoken. Throughout scripture, we are reminded of that we serve the God who never changes. Never fails on keeping His promises. And never fails His people. If He never changes and all the other things mentioned above are true about Him, then why would we not hope in Him? Why would we not say I believe that! I believe His promises! I believe whatever He says, whatever He does. I'm standing on the edge of His promises in anticipation. Why would we not stand firm in belief? Biblical hope is not just some desire. It is "the CONFIDENT expectation of what God promised. It's strength is in His faithfulness" (Onlinelibrary.wiley.com). Stand in Hope. Not for every worldly thing you can imagine. Stand first in the Hope of Christ. When our Hope is in Him, all our other desires fall in place. Just hope. In Him. Go all in with Hope. The One Hope that has never and will never disappoint.
