Good Friday. The darkest day to remember, the day that Jesus died. Many people try not to remember Him dying, but rather only want to think about the joy of His resurrection. I encourage you today to sit and soak in this day. It is a dark and sad thing to think back on and remember, but we need to soak in this day and remember all He went through for us. We would not be able to be forgiven for our sins. We would have had to die on that cross, but He took our place. He was betrayed, whipped, beaten, mocked, scorned, despised, spit on, nailed to the cross, wore a crown of thorns, and drank sour wine. All for who? You. While on that cross, hanging there in pain, He specifically thought of you. He went through all this pain, all these things, and yet... still loved the people who did it to Him, loved the ones who yelled "crucify Him," loved the ones who betrayed Him, He was betrayed by His own disciples, yet He loved them. He also loved the ones He was dying for, which was you, your friend, your family members, everyone. God loved us so much He sent His Son to die for us. While hanging on the cross, He even prayed for the people who were killing Him. "And Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." And they cast lots to divide his garments.
Luke 23:34
He asked for forgiveness FOR them, because they did not know the depth of what they were doing. Can you imagine loving and praying for someone who was killing you? Well, Jesus did. And He died the most gruesome, most awful death, for you. He loves you and He has never stopped. You see, the trial, the pain, it all leads up to the joy, we need the trial and pain to experience the maximum joy. The three days He was dead, I cannot imagine what life was like. The people must have been petrified knowing Jesus had died. He became sin who knew no sin. He took all our sins, took it all in, and crushed it. ALL. Remember His death, it is important. Sit and just think about it. We need to reflect on and remember this day well, so that when Easter comes, our joy will be so powerful. Jesus, thank you! Thank Him today and remember what He did for you. What a love! What a sacrifice! This is the GOOD NEWS!! That we are forgiven! That God sent His only Son to die for you and I, so that we could live and be forgiven. His love is indescribable. Don't skip over today, today is one of, if not, the most important day in history. Keep it in your mind today, do not forget it. Lastly, do not just remember this near Easter or on Good Friday, He did nothing wrong, but died. We did everything wrong, yet lived, because of Him. Mercy, Grace, Love, and Sacrifice, for us. I am overwhelmed by this love, and I hope you are too. All He went through, every whip He received, every drop of blood shed, was for you
