Everyone struggles with being content with where they are. A question each person often asks themselves is: what's next? what's after this season? It's never what's now? What can I learn from this season? Remember that you're here in this season for a reason. God has put you right where you are, right now, for a reason. You see, discontentment is one of the devils greatest tactics. It's slow and it's unsuspected. The devil uses discontentment to turn us away from God. If we are discontent, we are not focusing on God any longer, but rather turning to the world for satisfaction and contentment. God should be the One that always satisfies. When we are discontent, we aren't letting God be enough. Discontentment is a common thing in our society today. That's why you see all this people doing these crazy things for power, money, love, etc., because they seek to be content, to be satisfied. I think because discontentment is so common, we don't recognize the severity of it. We don't realize that when we are discontent, we take away from God. We know that when we're empty, He comes to fill. When we don't quite meet the mark, He finishes. He makes us enough. He satisfies. But we need to want Him to be what satisfies. No matter where you are in life: single, dating, engaged, married, an employee, unemployed, sick, healthy, happy, sad, wherever you are in life... Be content with Him. Let Him be enough to satisfy. If the devil can get you thinking about anything or anyone else more than God, he has a hold on you. When we are content in God, we don't let worldly things push us to be satisfied in it. We are told everyday to let the world satisfy, do this, do that, you'll be satisfied. Being content in God is the only satisfaction that stays, but we have to fight for it. Live where you are, in the circumstance you're in, with the people in your life. Every detail of your life is put there for a reason by the One who lined the sky with stars, who knit every part of you together, the One who created everything, let Him hold it all in His Hands, trust Him with the details. I promise. He knows what He's doing.
Philippians 4:11-13
I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
Be content, not because life is good, but because your God is good and He is enough, that is enough.
