Being a Mountain

Ever heard people talk about mountains and maybe you have talked about them too. They talk about mountains being in their way, or climbing the mountain. A lot of people use this word to refer to struggles in life, a mountain, a struggle, a difficulty. Have you ever thought that you might be your own mountain? Sounds odd, right? I mean I am sure you have prayed that God would help you climb this mountain or something close to that. Have you ever thought that you might be the one making things difficult, making things not work out? I can think of one example where we have all been our own mountain... not allowing or trusting God's plan or way for us. We stand in the way and we say no, we're going this way. We get in the way of the plan and things get difficult and we ask God for help, and to 'help us climb this mountain,' when in reality that mountain you're grumbling about, is you. But, sometimes we don't realize that and so when we beg God to help us overcome the mountain in front of us, we need to surrender and be submissive, and ready for Him to show and tell us 'hey it's you, you're the mountain, you're in your own way, and I'm going to move you, TRUST ME.' It's convicting. It's not pleasant to hear. I know it's hard to hear that, but I also know it's so good, and rich to hear that. Be submissive to His plan, recognize the ways you might be being the mountain, and then correct, and submit. I think change is another big one, when things change, we dislike it, so we try everything we can to stop it. This hinders us from trusting God, and following Him. When we aren't trusting God, we begin to lose our focus on Him, and when that happens, everything begins falling apart, and when that takes place, we definitely become our own mountain even more often. Ask yourself, ask God if you're being your own mountain in the season of life you're in, if you're standing in your own way, and in His way. Then, submit, and trust. It is not your job to be a mountain, or to be your own guide, but to discover the mountains, and overcome them with the help of the Guide.
